Yucca Canyon Trail is a 3.8 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Carlsbad, New Mexico that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from March until November.
Thought this was a beautiful hike. Nobody else was on the trail, and the views were wonderful along the way and from the top.
Carlsbad trails seem to be pretty much shut down due to the recent rains. The road to the trailhead was the toughest part of the hike. The desert is lush and green but this trail is quite overgrown. Shorts not recommended. But still worth the hike. Hopefully they will open up again soon.
