Great little trail! We really enjoyed the views at the top. You can see the town of Tijeras from one spot.

Easy to find and good signage at the main trail intersections. A few interesting rock formations sprinkled throughout, and there are a couple spots around the switchbacks about halfway through that would be great for a picnic break. Just be mindful of footing in the rockier sections. Lots of bike tracks, but despite there being few cars in the lot, I didn't encounter any one else past the beginning portion setting out just past noon on a Friday.

That was fun. A little mud and snow pack in some areas, but that just made it more exciting

Scenic! We went clockwise so otero to west ridge. I think we enjoyed it this way better. Serene canyon walk in the beginning. Incline later. We loved it! Lots of friendly bikers, not much on foot. Def one of the faves!

Very beautiful trail, reminds me of the Hill Country in Texas to be honest. (Other than Sandia Peak showing itself in the distance). I did the hike clockwise, and the incline was very gradual, and it seemed most of the bikes were coming around counter clockwise so it made it easier to watch out for them. Very nice and shady hike not too far from Albuquerque.

Great, not-too-bad climbs and nice chunky trail, easy to follow. Watch out for MTBs, props to the guy with a bell on his bike

HikingGreat!

We actually freelanced a bit and went up West Ridge but cut over at the back on Gnarly and then came down Blue Ribbon to the trailhead which made the hike about 7 miles and 900 ft elevation gain. Very nice hike. Not crowded at all on a weekday morning as we saw one group of hikers and a couple of mountain bikers during the whole hike. We were a bit late for color in the leaves but great views and very peaceful. As others said, it is rocky so I was glad I was wearing hiking boots.

very rocky! it is greener and more shaded than other trials in the area, but you will still be in the sun for a good portion of the hike.

Wonderful weekday hike. The views are better going through the canyon first then the ridge. Like everyone else says, keep an ear out for mountain bikers. Looks like a blast for them.

Great hike with beautiful scenery. I actually wondered and completed about 8 miles. There are quite a few mountain bikers so be careful but everyone was courteous on the trail.
