The Vista Grande trail is a short, easy loop that starts at the end of the Soda Pocket campground. It starts in a forest of Gambel Oak, and climbs to a nice open viewpoint looking over Sugarite Canyon to the east and Little Horse Mesa to the north. There is even a bench here. The trail then descends through Gambel oak woods past springs/wetlands filled with yellow coneflowers. The trail skirts through some oak woods that were burned in the 2011 Track fire, but just for a short bit before looping back to the starting point. Definitely worth the time if you make the drive up the dirt road to Soda Pocket.
