Nice easy trail a little over 4 miles if you just do the loop. Wouldn't recommend in the summer since there's no shade.

Great experience. You can usually make it to the top in 30 minutes. Great place to catch a sunset and hike down with a flashlight.

You can find Tortugas Mountain when you drive by Drippings Springs Rd. There are several entrances, we used the one at (32.29607, -106.69202). There are also several trails, we suggest this route: From the entrance, go to the left and take the Arroyo Loop, then turn to the right in the crossing with the next trail (do not continue by Arroyo Trail). This trail to the right does not have a name on the map and goes around the hillside of the mountain, continue around the mountain until you get to the A Trail that takes you to the top of the mountain. People say that students from the NM University walk the A Trail to celebrate the beginning of the school year. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Organ Mountains. Then you can return by the Turtleback Trail or by the one next to this trail. You arrive to a section of several small trails that take you to the Arroyo Loop. We did a small loop to the left, then we took the Arroyo Loop near the Dripping Springs Rd. We continue by the Arroyo Loop and arrive to the same entrance. We recommend this route but you can also decide to hike by the other trails or start by other entrance, anything you choose you will enjoy a lot this place.
