No trouble finding the trailhead as lots of cars were parked there on a beautiful Sunday. You have to climb over a cattle gate to get to the trail. This is an easy hike to and through a beautiful slot canyon. Good for kids or when you just want an easy walk in fresh air. You can choose to go through the canyons and back or after the canyon go up a hill to a scenic overlook area and back. Pretty clean, except a bag of dog poop someone left behind (rude). I’d recommend bringing your mask as the canyon has some very narrow areas and you can’t social distance when you pass.

After the first half mile through the open land, the slot is amazing! I think my kids could have stayed all day. Be careful as there are rattle snakes around.

Hard to find entrance. Search for two green cattle fences in front of one another on 185. You likely will see vehicles parked on the side opposite of the road from the Rio Grande in a small dirt parking area. It is an unofficial entrance. We were told by Park Rangers that there is a conflict over who owns and manages the land but said it was okay to jump the green cattle fence. Once you jump it, follow the trail and footsteps to the entrance of Slot Canyon. It’s about a 10-15 minute hike from the road. It’s beautiful and well worth the fence jump. I forgot to start the recording at the start of our hike and started it once we reached the mountain peak on the other side of the Slot Canyon so you see half and in reverse. Sorry for the confusion. I hope you find it. Well worth it.

be careful for snakes. we walked through fine but on the way back through we encountered an angry snake on the wall in the narrow spot. we had to turn around and try to manage to find another trail. we found one to the right out of the canyon entrence when you first go through. was confusing for a bit but ended up finding foot prints back to the green gate.

The canyon is cool and worth going. Just past the canyon is a plateau that is worth climbing for the view. Beyond that is gravel dry creek bed that doesn’t have any views. It’s just OK. I have the trail three stars because of the map provided here. The loop trail isn’t marked at all and doesn’t really exist. All the people follow the dry creek instead, and that isn’t marked on the map.

Park on the side of the road by a green gate. You have to hop the gate to get to the trail. Its a short walk to the slot canyon. The canyon itself was nice and shady. Very easy hike for all skill levels. Once you get to the end of the canyon, the trail continues but there's really no reason to continue. The trail just loops back around to the canyon. Only saw a couple other groups of people.

It was a nice easy trail to walk. I had my 6 year old with me and she was able to do it, no problem. There is a gate you have to climb at the entrance and it started get busy with people around 9 am.
