Lots of rocks and mud for the first third of the trail. Beautiful views of the mountains. You can hike further than the 4K if you just continue to follow the trail passed the rivers edge. We did find a small hot spring, but didn’t go in it. The dogs enjoyed a swim in the cool river.

We went all the way down stream on both sides of the river to the steep canyon cliffs. We did not find the hot springs, but it was a good hike.

My second time doing this trail. I prefer it in the winter. Less greenery, so you can see more. Still very much worth it. Loose rocks on the entire path. Be cautious

Nice walk down into a river canyon. The river crossing was hard as the current was swift. After you cross look for a dry creek bed and follow it to the left. Just don't expect a pool other than a small creek discharging warm water into the river. May be seasonally dependent. Good hike though.

The trail guide is pretty poor. from the trail head head down to the river. immediately as the trail hit the bottom of the bank and the river you have to cross over. it was 3 to 4 feet deep in late March with strong current. There is a trail marker on the other bank turn left and head for the big rock outcrop infront of you. There is a hot green pool full of fish and creatures at the bottom of this. Follow the run off to the river bank to your left and on the river bank there are springs coming out of the ground with hot water. There is a sulphurous muddy pool on the opposite bank too behind a tree root. Worth the effort.

Easy trail on the way down to the river. Coming back up is a hard climb. The trail switchbacks all the way down to the river. Cross the river with a sturdy walking stick. The day I went it was really moving. Probably around 10mph. The initial parking area is not the main trailhead. Follow the foot path about 1 mile until you see the rustic trailhead . Again not an easy climb up. So if you have trouble breathing or not in physical shape do not go down to the river. Getting out will be very strenuous. Absolutely beautiful though. Great spot for photography, or a lazy picnic . The springs are hot. Follow the path on the other side of the river and you will find it easily.

I definitely would not rate this an easy trail..... moderate would be more accurate. I didn’t see any hot spring pools constructed in the river but if you dig around with your feet you can find some nice warm water. Stunning views overlooking the canyon.

Should be considered a moderate hike. Beautiful canyon. Never did find the hot springs, no pools, river was warm though. Beautiful dragonfly’s everywhere.

We did this hike in April , great scenery with the rock cliffs , we did see a mountain goat high above looking down at us . Pretty good grade coming back up out of the canyon . Will probably do this one again during cooler months

I took my 4 children ages 5-13 to the springs last week (Jan 13, 2018). The trail was easy enough and the trailhead was super easy to find. When you get to the bottom of the trail to the river, cross and then turn left. The springs will be on the river bank. There are about 4-5 pools. It was a bit crowded but we went on a long weekend. The towns people are super friendly and you should stop off and eat in their cafes. Patronize their businesses.

Trail can be difficult close to the river. The canyon is beautiful and hot springs are small but relaxing. Primitive camping at trail head.
