I didn't get very far in this hike. The first couple of miles were steep and pretty, then it opened up into a bunch of big fields. They were really pretty. There were some cows up top but they ignored me. Then I walked over a hill and there was a huge black bull standing sideways across the trail. He seemed very aggressive, stomping and bellowing and shaking his horns at me. I had to turn around. I've spent a lot of time on public land in New Mexico and seen a ton of cows, but i've never seen a bull out in a recreation area before. I almost brought my dog and i'm extremely glad that I didn't. Unsure if this is normal or not but it seems unnecessarily dangerous to me.
