Petroglyphs, great hike for the family. Starting off from the trailhead you skirt along the right side of the canyon / mesa. Along the trail you'll notice many petroglyphs etched into the dark rocks from various people groups and cultures ranging from Native Americans, Spanish settlers, and American ranchers. The trail is a loop or you could make an out and back hike. While the first half of the trail you're hiking right next to the canyon / mesa side but if you do the loop the trail heads right through the middle of the canyon on the way back. On the way back you're too far to see the petroglyphs. This is a great hike with nothing too strenuous as far as elevation gain. A great hike for families and petroglyph viewing. Be sure to visit the visitor center a mile up the road and the other places to hike at the National Monument.

This was a very easy - moderate trail. I started at 8 am in August and took my time waking and taking pictures and finished about 10:30 ( I went slow look and pics). Bring water and there is a bench half way to rest. Great hike for families with kids (no strollers or bike).

The first .5 mile you won’t immediately see petroglyphs, but you start to see more after that. It was an enjoyable hike!

Took my four youngest kids and it was still fun and easy enough for them and it was overcast so not too hot. Lots of centipedes and beetles but no pesky things on the trail. Easy hike for young kids and not too long.

Nice trail with lots of glyphs to see. I really enjoyed this trail and hunting the glyphs. It's a little difficult to stay on the trail because it's so rocky. Little to no shade, so prepare for that. Expect to climb around a bit to see more glyphs, so good shoes are recommended. Nice view from the top. Been here twice and still don't think we've seen all the glyphs.

This very easy trail offers a great opportunity for a warm-up hike or an easy hike for the beginner and younger children. It's also a great opportunity for young hikers, who can define, categorize, and count types of petroglyph pictures (specific animals, people with head decor, various shapes).

The first half of the walk is along the basalt escarpment of the canyon where, with a keen eye, one can early on spy out petroglyphs. The walking base is a mixture of soft sand and hard packed sand. The pace, for observing rock art, is more a stroll. The second half is a slight decline through the middle of the canyon. No shade. Wear sunscreen and head-covering. Light long sleeves for the fare of flesh!!

Nice short loop. Fun spotting petroglyphs! Only thing is not much to see on the return portion of the loop.
