We used 2 vehicles and hiked from trailhead 4 to 1...8.2 miles and 815 feet elevation change. I don’t recommend this for beginners. The terrain is rugged and steep at times. But for a seasoned hiker, it’s a must do! The views are breathtaking and the wilderness is encompassing. My favorite hike so far!

Nice trail. The loop is actually on the road. It ended nicely because the road walk was a nice break.

Perfect trail, I had limited time and only was able to go 2 1/2 miles in. The best of everything, shade, deer, birds, some rocks to keep it real. It was fun to visit the abandoned group area and lucky for me the bathroom was unlocked

Great trail except the portion where you have to walk along the road for about 2 miles until you can get back on the trail. Did this trail in June, there was plenty of shaded areas. No big trees on the ground blocking the trail. Really rocky spots so shoes with good ankle support are a good idea. Bring plenty of water!

This was a pretty easy trail, although it is long, we just went hiking for a short bit and then went cross country to see a view...

Nice hike, but do not treat this trail as a loop. I recommend starting at Trailhead 4, hiking north towards Trailhead 2. Enjoy the overlook after about 6 miles then turn around and go back to your car at Trailhead 4. Otherwise you will be walking all the way back to your car on the narrow shoulder of a busy road.

Did this trail in June. Very nice and shady through out 90% of the trail. Elevation and incline gain isn’t bad. Took my dog and she made it out just fine. Bring at least 2 Liters of water and a few snacks. The way back to loop it to the beginning is walking along side the sunspot highway to the trail head.

Nice trail with great views. There were only two bummers - a lot of fallen trees to step over and some big enough that you had to either crawl over or walk around. The 2nd bummer was walking along the highway for about 2 miles after about mile 7. You are able to get back on trail at Parking Lot 2 for the last 2-3 miles.
