Did this trail in June. Very nice and shady through out 90% of the trail. Elevation and incline gain isn’t bad. Took my dog and she made it out just fine. Bring at least 2 Liters of water and a few snacks. The way back to loop it to the beginning is walking along side the sunspot highway to the trail head.

Nice trail with great views. There were only two bummers - a lot of fallen trees to step over and some big enough that you had to either crawl over or walk around. The 2nd bummer was walking along the highway for about 2 miles after about mile 7. You are able to get back on trail at Parking Lot 2 for the last 2-3 miles.
