Went to Plaza Blanca today. Big closed gate with "closed for renovations" sign. Anyone know when it will reopen? Is this a COVID virus closure? Thanks.

Plaza Blanca during COVID-19 was quiet and peaceful!

Very similar to rent rocks formations but more wide open. The formations are beautiful but incredibly fragile so have to make sure the kiddos don’t climb them. But the 5&8 year old loved it!

Plaza Blanca is Such a stunning and otherworldly place to explore! The rock / sand formations are a true sight to behold and climb around, and the surrounding scenery is magnificent. I spent a morning exploring here ... I didn’t see “official trails,” so I found little ones and did my own way finding from there. It’s kind of a DIY playground. There is a lot of sun and it is pretty warm out there, so bring sunscreen and water if you desire. I recommend as a great day trip from Santa Fe!

What an amazing place. Follow the stream bed to the west to hike through the slot canyon. There’s a few trails here and there but it’s more fun to make your own and explore.

What a wonderful place to explore. The white rock formations here are not only beautiful but very different than the red rock in the surrounding areas. Hiking here is less of a “follow the trails” experience, and more of a choose your own adventure. I would use the all trails route as a guide and then feel free to explore anything that catches your eye. If coming in the summer months, I’d recommend coming early in the morning before the heat sets in as once the sun is directly overhead there will be little shade and the sun will be bouncing off all walls of the canyon.

Easy streambed hiking. Can make it longer or shorter; the trails seem to braid and meander up the streambeds and arroyos. Fantastic views of the eroded Abiquiu Formation (the white, weirdly eroded cliffs).

Great trail but it’s not marked, so watch where you step, avoid the bio soil since they protect the environment!

You have to enter at the giant mosque gate area from road. There is a trail parking area. Cool scramble areas and climbing areas if you are not with someone afraid of heights! This is kind of a make your own trail type of place.

Had a great time. There were a few places along the trail where I held my 4 year old daughter's hand on the way up, but the way down was fantastic and super easy.

I loved this place. Trails take you practically anywhere you want to go at different elevations. The rock formations are stunning. Worth the visit.

It's definitely worth seeing. the trail is not real clear nor is it difficult. You'll want to take a camera for sure

Beautiful hike! That trail isn't very defined- we only made it about a mile because the trail line ran out. But the rock formations are definitely worth seeing! It's private property owned by the Mosque. Enter the property under the wooden archly and follow the road.

Great easy hike. To enter, go through the arched entrance to the road that leads to the mosque.
