Hiked this trail in about 60 degree weather and it was wonderful. Great, smooth footing throughout with some really nice views. The trail goes from scrub brush to thick spruce forest.

Wonderfully beautiful. The trail is mostly marked but some places are better marked than others.

My wife and I wished we had more time to do the long version, but the short version of the Pino Trail was still very much worth the time. It's amazing how different the Sandia and Pecos mountains are from one another despite being in close proximity to the other. I feel the Sandia mountains are a better representation of what most people would expect to see in New Mexico (rugged, somewhat baron, etc.). Just a beautiful landscape in general. I would love to come back in the winter, as we heard from locals the Sandia mountains in winter are quite beautiful. It does get quite hot on this trail so wear appropriate clothing and make sure you bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
