My fiancé and I took Embudito up to South peak which was great but I do NOT recommend taking Oso Ridge on the way down. It is INCREDIBLY steep. I’m talking an 80 degree decline for the first mile and a half, and it doesn’t get much better. Incredibly overgrown with very little traction. I would not recommend doing this trail without sticks.

Coming down the Oso Ridge side had more steepness (less cutbacks) and more loose gravel. Suggest to have poles to help or come up that way. Lots of views and lots of white and yellow daisies.

Do Oso Ridge going up and Embudito coming back. Oso is a lung burner going up but an unstable ankle busting mess coming down. YMMV IMHO.

Beautiful desert mountain trail. Moderate level with some slippery sections coming down. Great views at the top. Trail a little hard to follow at times as there were many possible options. Would recommend and do again.

Embudito Trail was very wet in early March due to snowmelt and rainfall. The trail was too wet for our 20lb dog, so we carried him in a pet-carrier backpack. Our large dog had no issues. Great triail with friends.

Beautiful hike. There was some snow on the ground and it was slippery so be careful because there is a lot of cactuses

A little icy in the boulders but definitely doable and fun!

Decent hike, no real destination at the “top”, but pretty views along the way. Plenty of parking, got there mid day.

This trail has some absolutely gorgeous views and was a really enjoyable way to spend a Sunday morning. However, it was not marked at all so I would highly recommend keeping the AllTrails map feature open. We ended up accidentally adding on nearly two miles since we accidentally followed oso ridge portion instead of the loop. For pedometer users, I had 15.8k steps and 174 flights of stairs on Fitbit. There was also a pretty decent amount of gravel on both the way up and way down, so be careful. Overall, highly recommend it!

Great day on the trail. Took a detour back to the car. Fantastic views, if you’re into that.

Love hiking this little loop with my dog. I hiked counterclockwise, Embudito canyon up and Oso ridge down. Water flowing in the canyon, rocky and slippery but easy to navigate. Great views off Oso ridge, just know it is steep with loose rock. One of my go to short moderate hikes. Enjoy!

Great hike but we lost our keys at the trailhead today! The ring has many keys, one with a zia print, a cathead bottle opener, and a dog leash clasp. Please email dashiellhock@gmail.com if found!

Not especially well marked so def use gps mapping. Recommend going up embudito and down oso ridge as it's less steep that way. I did it backwards - the views are great on oso but youbget good ones on embudito too. Would definitely do again

Just hiked this trail with friends stumbled across this loop on accident but loved it! There are amazing views along Oso Ridge! We hiked up Oso Ridge and down Embudito. I would recommend doing it the opposite way. Some snow here in early March but no big deal.
