This is typically an easy nice trail to an overlook. I tried to do this trail in September and it was very overgrown and flooded out in one part, so I had to turn around. Disappointing :(

Park ranger led hike was nice. There were several petroglyph site you would probably never find without a guide. A little too slow pace for me but you make do with a group. It won’t take most near as long. Great views at the end of river and gorge!

Not much view of the Rio Grande. An easy hike. The end of the trail was flooded. Must have had rain last couple of days. The rest of the trail was dry

what an awesome payoff at the end of the trail! my family also decided to make things a bit more difficult by climbing up the various rock formations that are located along the trail. thank you for the Pillar Yacht Club for pointing out this gem to us.

This trail is not near Ojo. It's in Pilar, in the Rio Grande Gorge. The first part is a rocky hill and the least pretty part of the trail. But it gets prettier and prettier walking through the sage and basalt on down to an overlook of the river. Two benches to sit at. Not really any trees to sling a hammock, but really nice trail with views. It will get hot with little to no coverage from the sun soon. Saw a group of about 10 big horned sheep.

Excellent trail, with changing views, and a good chance of seeing bighorn sheep. Early spring hike was beautiful, and not too hot. Some loose rock and sand, in places...wear good walking shoes.

Hiked this Thanksgiving with the kids (3,5,7) and we loved it!!!! Very muddy but that didn’t stop us. Bring extra pants, shoes and a bag to put your dirty laundry in. Have fun!

This was a nice easy trail view at the end was great. We did have to make our way around a small lake from water run off and got caught in a rain/hail storm on our way out.

Very nice trail to hike. Took mountain bikes to ride but had to hike with them part of the way. Came across a herd of mountain gots which made the rockiness worth it. View at end of trail is amazing.

This is a nice trail that shows you the lower portion of the rio grande del Norte. Bonus to my hike is that I came a cross a big horn sheep grazing about 10 yards off of the trail. He watched me with caution but didn't run off.

Beautiful, relatively flat hike. It's the desert and totally exposed, so keep that in mind. We started around 11am and it was HOT. It's mostly unimpressive scrub until the very end, where you get an incredible view of the Rio Grande from thousands of feet above.
