Tha La Junta overlook trail is an easy paved loop that starts at the La Junta campground in Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. It winds through pinyon-juniper trees to amazing overlooks of the Rio Grande Gorge and its the confluence with the Red River. Drop-offs are behind barriers, making the overlooks kid-friendly. Campground and trail open year round but summer sun is intense and the only real shade is the pavilions offered in the campground and picnic sites. Bathroom available there as well.
