I measured 11 miles. I hiked early morning and saw a brown bear, herd of elk, herd of wild horses, and a coyote on the mesa.

There are a lot of other split-offs along the trail near the top that might become difficult to stay on trail. the Mesa at the top is completely overgrown and without this app, it would've been near impossible to complete. the area needs additional markers or ribbons to help stay on track. the hike itself was awesome with beautiful views, and even deer at the top of the Mesa. this hike is well worth it.

its always great to go back to a place you love. todays adventurous offtrail led us in a few different ways and extra miles. the last time we were here is almost 7 months ago. the coolness of the season has taken some different approaches to the views but nonetheless beautiful and extraordinary. will return to do the remainder of the trial system.

Awesome views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. I even ran into a band of wild horses! The path becomes harder to follow, and less traveled once you reach the Mesa loop. The trail (if going in and out) is longer than what this says according to my Fitbit. Great hike!

A very nice hike with great views. Mileage listing for the FULL Plateau Loop hike is a bit misleading. From the lake parking lot trailhead the hike to the beginning of the loop at the plateau would be be about 7.6 miles out and back. However, the "loop" trail at the plateau adds another 3.4 miles for a total of 11 miles out and back. Hiking the plateau was almost completely flat with second half the the loop much prettier than the first half which had been heavily forested and was burned. We saw four wild mustang horses that didn't seem to like us being there but we're beautiful to see

Was great!! Just watch out for sliding rocks and logs if in larger group. Also when finally at top, there was a huge ring of burn out. All along the trail rangers stacked fallen trees kind of took away from that untouched feeling. All and all great views of forest and lake!
