Enlightenment Trail is a 7.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Angel Fire, New Mexico that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and mountain biking and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Trail was covered in snow so we tried to use all trails pro and it would not show us where the trail was. Came to a juncture and could not tell where to continue
Great trail. Beautiful fall colors. We hiked it up hill one way. It was about 4.8 miles one way. We will take chair lift down .
7AM start to this perfect “Bluebird” day. The trail is very fast for the first 3 miles, then it gets somewhat steep. Saw several deer, rabbits, squirrels, and grouse on this hike. Very peaceful. Loved every minute!
Didn’t get to do the trail expected because most of the mountain is a bike park. Found one trail for hiking...go left of chair lift to Enlightenment Trail. Great hike!
Great trail. Starts at the bottom of the Chile Line chairlift and gains 2000 feet of elevation over 4.5 miles. The first three miles are very nice trail - heavily wooded and easy on the feet. After the 3 mile point, the trail gets much steeper and somewhat more rocky. There are a number of cross slope areas and some steep uphills that are fairly slippery, so hiking poles are definitely recommended. You end up at the top of the Chile Line and can take the lift down. The perfect ending to a great hike.
