Long trail, consistent linear climb, and lots and lots of insects that would not leave me alone. Only the wind could keep the bugs at bay. There's a but of shade, but not until after a significant distance. No rock climbing, but lots of rocks.

An easy to follow trail that begins in the (sun-filled) foothills and ascends to a lovely shaded forest. Decent amount of elevation gain, mainly through switchbacks. A bit rocky at times, requiring some technical footing.

My favorite way up the east side of the Sandias. Love the forest as you climb to Oso Pass. The first part of the hike can be hot with little cover but soon gets to some beautiful forest.

I’ve only gone about halfway on this trail, so far. I find it to be truly idyllic. The rocks make it a fun little challenge at times. The variety of vegetation is remarkable and the little bit of water makes it extra special. There are lots of shady spots to stop and just listen to the sounds of the water & insects; feel the breeze; admire the plants, rocks, and butterflies; and sometimes even smell the flowers. My dog enjoys it too :) It’s a popular trail but I haven’t felt crowded. I hiked it recently one morning and I just keep going back.

Hiked this April 14. First two miles there is little shade and it's somewhat rocky. Turns to forest until you hit the hop after that. Not as rocky there but there are a couple of switchbacks. There were several spots where there was still snow on the ground but not enough normal boots couldn't handle. All in all it was a great hike and I plan to do it again soon.

A nice trail, easy to follow. After exiting the riverbed you start to climb on big sweeping switchbacks. Mile 2 starts steeper and the switchbacks are tighter with lots of rocks, but still easy to maneuver around and over.

Great hike but we lost our keys at the trailhead today! The ring has many keys, one with a zia print, a cathead bottle opener, and a dog leash clasp. Please email dashiellhock@gmail.com if found!

Very rocky and steep the first 2-3 miles. Then it tapers off and becomes moderate with plenty of shade. Take lots of water. This trail is definitely NOT for beginners

Great hike, pretty scenery. Good elevation gain and distance. Went to Oso pass, had a bite to eat, and a short nap in the shade. :) Recommend for sure...

Great views of city, My. Taylor and all the way to Cabezon. Somewhat steep in some places. Gorgeous granite boulders everywhere. Some traffic and a couple users should have exercised better etiquette since a narrow trail.

The hike was really fun! The experience itself was great, and the view was stunning! Highly recommend this trail for beginners to moderate hikers. It wasn’t the steepest but you definitely get a workout.

Phenomenal views of the city and awesome granite slabs. Be careful of the ice in winter.
