El Morro National Monument Campground is a moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Bluewater, New Mexico that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, camping, and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
El Morro National Monument operates a nine-site campground year-round. Each site has a graveled tent pad, picnic table and ground grill for fires. During the warmer months, water is available in spigots. Once the overnight low's begin to reach freezing temperatures, water is turned off for the season. There are no hookups for RVs. The length limit on all motor homes is 27 feet overall. One site, #5, is handicapped accessible.
This was our boys' first real nature walk for a NPS Junior Ranger badge. They have a good self-guided tour, with varying levels of difficulty. We give major kudos to the excellent ranger who encouraged our children to support NPS and learn as much as they can about their natural environment.
Nice primitive campground. Limited on space. Arrive early in busy season.
