The trail is clearing up quickly. Little snow and ice left. No need for spikes or snow shoes, but trekking poles would help you keep your balance if you hit some of the ice, slush, or mud. We camped at the end of the trail by the waterfalls. The river is frozen in parts but the little fall at the end is stronger than ever. Cold temps overnight but nothing you can’t handle with a decent sleep system and layers.
Very Beautiful and icy hike. I completed this in the morning on 2/13/2020. I absolutely recommend some ice traction devices for your feet for this hike over snowshoes if its been a while since a snow. On the path it was EXTREMELY icy with 2 inches of thick ice in many places. The stream was frozen as well, and it was amazing.
Set out at 7:30am and we were the only ones there. The trail is snow packed but there were only a few areas that were slick, so still very doable. The river is frozen until the very last portion of the trail where you turn around. Looks like people had walked/skied on it but we didn’t test it. Scenery is beautiful in the winter. Great hike!
9.5/10. An easy hike that was absolutely gorgeous in the snow. Definitely one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on. Currently it is covered in snow and so when we went out after a fresh couple inches, the scenery was spectacular. I would definitely recommend going out earlier to beat the other hikers as we encountered a few on our return trip. Lost of fun bridges (we counted 8?). But a very fun hike that is doable for all ages.
we got here approximately 11:00 in the morning. parking was a little tight at that time. hardly anybody on the hiking trail. when we came back a little after 1:00 there's people lined up along side of the road in the trail with starting to get more busy. very scenic for the winter. usually don't see this in the Mexico.
Easy nature hike with nice scenery. No wildlife but the trail was pretty busy.
Can't express in words how much I love this trail. Absolutely beautiful. It's an easy walk/hike and dog friendly. I've done this walk a few times but this time shared the trail with some bovine! We quickly just walk passed them and they just watch you as they munch on the grass. Watch for piles of poop along the way. There was a TON of it. The leaves are changing to bright yellows and orange which made this time around that much better. Went on a week night right before sunset and the trail was pretty empty. Saw Steller's Jay's and Clarks Nutcrakers as well as a few Robins. Would have loved to go further to find the falls but was running out of daylight. Will definitely be going back.
Beautiful hike with plenty of space for social distancing. We went around 11:00 on a Tuesday and only saw 4-5 other people. This would be a great hike for kids, lots of spots to play in the water and fun bridges to cross. If you go past the fence near the trail sign post at the end there is a little waterfall.
Beautiful hike, so many birds. We went when the park first opened on a Tuesday and essentially had the whole trail to ourselves. Word of caution - our hike was filled with cow manure and we had to be really careful of where we stepped. We ended up coming across the culprits toward the end of the hike, which was kind of cool.
Great trail. Easy on the family and very awesome scenery.
Easy trail with some very nice views of a creek, rock walls, and forest. Some rock walls are climber friendly and have anchors installed. The problem is that it's extremely busy and a bit of mix of a city park and a trail. This means you have folks smoking, drinking and just generally leaving trash everywhere, including broken glass.
