Eagle Creek Trail and Alto Reservoir Loop is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Ruidoso, New Mexico that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The lake was beautiful but a little crowded. The trail was well groomed and easy. There is a little rock area with a cute creek near the far end of trail where we are a little lunch. Fun for the family.
Pretty muddy/still snow on the south side, but had a good amount and shady, sunny and uphill/downhill.
Loved this trail! The view of the lake and mountains in the distance is breathtaking! We went during February so one side of the trail was covered in snow, but it was manageable. There were also wild horses at the entrance. There’s creeks, water falls, and rocks to climb.
I use this trail a lot in the fall winter spring months since I can access it from my house making it about 4-1/2 miles total. It’s a nice little easy trail with beautiful views. During high season it gets pretty packed with hikers and fishermen and you can’t get anywhere close, especially if you’re driving.
Minor construction, but nothing that stopped the excellent view.
Beautiful sites. Was able to walk around the lake but the trail was closed because of construction.
It’s very pretty but the trail is blocked due to construction for now.
Great forest views but hundreds were in the trail and fishing. If you don’t like heavy traffic then you may want to find another trail.
It was an easy trail for old dogs and young kids. Last end of the trail was closed.
Really nice trail - relatively easy, a few inclines but overall very good for families and just a quick basic walk.
