I tried to do this trail today (a Sunday) but the gate to FR-289 Dome Lo Road was closed and locked, and there was a sign saying no motorized vehicles and no hiking allowed.

The starting point to this trail is kinda random. The sign in the photos posted - is on the right side of the dirt road. The hike was majestic. Once you are deep within the canyons, it is very peaceful. A lot of ups and downs. The petrified trees created lovely views.
