I would recommend this trail, got a little of track. took FR12 to Meadow Ridge to FR13... What a ride!!! It is challenging for newbies.

other than a nice workout, there really isn't much to recommend this trail to the hikers. it isn't pretty, no Scenic views, and way too many flies! you stop for a drink in your swarmed by flies! in addition, I think the early part of the trail goes through former landfill. you can see parts of tires, concrete, and other things like scrap iron littering the trail. parts of the trail I smell a bit like a swamp too.

This trail needs better signage to get on and get off the right trail. First mile from trailhead on Coyote is dismal. Last 2/3 of loop make it worthwhile, especially nice rocks and canyon on Chamisoso. Not sure I will go back given stiff competition with other trails. Only saw two bikers mid-day on a Thursday.

The Chamisoso part is better and other connected trails due to a plethora of motorized bikes. Nice area when you want a quick mountain fix.

As a hiker, I had a nice time just being outside but the trail is more suited for dirt bikes.... which I saw a lot on the trail.

I really enjoyed the trail, lots of beautiful scenery. I think the loop is closer to 10 miles tho. As previously stated, it is easy to take wrong turns and go off trail. I'm very glad that I downloaded the map. I would rate the trail closer to moderate than hard.

there are lots of different trails and paths in this hiking area. it can also be extremelllyyyyyy muddy. when i went, the trails were washed away and it was easy to get lost...which i did and ended up hiking about 13 miles because the trails weren't marked very well. just make sure to download the map, it is a must on these hiking paths.
