This trail is difficult to find. The AllTrails coordinates will take you near a gas station and pizza place. Follow the road between the two; it will become gravel. Look for the signs for trailhead #1. You'll go past a couple private property signs before you come to a small gravel parking lot/loop. The trail starts from the parking area. There is actually a network of trails in the El Dorado Community Preserve; the loop shown here is just one. The trails are exceptionally well-marked. We followed the loop clockwise but also did a trail off of it to the Galisteo overlook. There wasn't much to see from the overlook (or anywhere on the trail) except some houses and I-25. The route we did made the trail just shy of 4.5 miles. (There were other trails; you could go further than that if you wanted.) The sign at the trailhead says non-residents must be accompanies by an El Dorado resident, but we only saw one other person on a Sunday morning, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Dogs are allowed either on a leash or under voice control, which is very nice. This trail is nice if you're looking for a dog-friendly hike without other people, but if views are what you're after, this definitely is not the best pick.
