Lake, Streams and Wetlands This is a loop hike and starts at the parking lot. Follow the blue blazed trail. You will hike through open hardwood forest, along creaks and swamps. You will also go past beautiful Willowcrest lake. Great area for bird watching, because of the variety of habitates you will pass through. Excellent for those looking to get out for an easy hike. After your hike you can head down to Swartswood State Park and kayak the 500acre Swartswood lake.

Really peaceful and not another person! Many pretty brooks, and West Crest Lake is very pretty. Wet and some fun with rock jumping! On Hampton Road, Newton! Entrance says “springbrook”

If you like stepping on rocks, this is the trail for you! Easy, clean trail. No one on it. Well marked. Need to try in the summer.

Nothing special but it was a nice snowy wet walk.

Easy, quiet walk in the woods. Definitely a wet trail so wear boots or waterproof shoes. I had previously tried this Trail in late spring but turned back after a half mile because I was covered in ticks (dozens of them). Much better at this time of year lol. The trail was very well marked- plenty of blue blazes to keep you on the right track.

This is a great trail. Easy walking except for a few rocky stretches, well marked (follow the blue blazes) and covering diverse and beautiful habitats. We saw abundant mushrooms, frogs, and birds. Plenty of shade, bugs weren’t too bad for mid-summer. Path does not follow map much, so ignore the frequent off-trail alerts.

beware of the poison ivy! I first noticed patches near the lake. only about ankle high at this point but its abundant. other than that, really nice hike. I do wish there were more paths to the water.

About half way through we walked right up to a black bear! Luckily it ran away(: There’s a couple nice scenes along the trail. I’m sure its because of the season but it was super muddy. Without the blue markers we’d be totally lost cause there’s not always a clear path!

Trail conditions were fine - a little muddy; downed trees are all cleared. Pretty thick foliage when you are near the shore, but it's only for a little while and there's no thorns. Trail is marked very well; it's just not super eventful, but it's nice. The forest is very healthy. But if you just want a little walk through the woods it's very nice.

It was an easy trail especially for the dogs. They had a couple water breaks in the stream. Lots of mushrooms. Many different species to look at. Wood bridges are very slippery I recommend having dogs walk through the stream instead of over the bridge so they don’t get hurt. Very peaceful in the morning.

Lots of downed trees due to recent storms. Have to climb over and under trees. Nothing impassable. Lots of bushwack. Trail is barely visible. Wear proper footwear for swampy mud.

My map recording didnt quite match with the one provided by AllTrails but it was close enough. This is a 3 mile well maintained and well marked loop. There are several stone walls to climb over and the trail itself is a bit muddy and rocky in many areas. The lake is nice but I wish the trail followed the shoreline a bit more. A few small streams to check out as well but not much else. The trail is very close to some houses and private property. There is litter all around the parking area. I also picked up a few empty Bud Light cans on the trail and several shotgun shells so be careful.
