was surprised to find snow through out. crampons and hiking poles were sufficient
I give this 5. Beautiful views and a semi-challenging trail that would wouldn't expect in Central Jersey.
good trail with hills rocks and water. there is a portion of the alltrails highlighted trail that goes off the marked trail. it is not even a trail. I would just stick to the trail as the highlighted trail brings you back to the actual trail.
Great trail. We added some red trail for a total of 6.1 miles. Beautiful scenery
Nice trail, lots of options. I will do it again.you come to a fence near the dam and you have go down a very steep trail along the fence to pick the trail back up
Unfortunately, I had to cut my hike short because of time. But that's only due to spending so much time by the water. It was a gorgeous day, although a bit on the chilly side. The initial climb up was a bit strentuous (but I'm also carrying 30-40 lbs in a pack as well). After you get up the initial climb, you're treated to a view of the Reservoir, at least at this time of year. This trail leads to a fence with signs for private property. The descent is steep and a little sketchy but the fence is helpful to make your way down. And once you do, you're treated to a beautiful view of the Reservoir and the surrounding mountains. The terrain is fairly easy after the initial climb. I had lunch at "76", and enjoyed some quiet time by the water. I made my way back by cutting straight up to the blue trail and back to the parking lot. Will definitely return here, especially with others since it's not too difficult. Boots or trailrunners preferred, regardless.
Beautiful hike! One you cross the ridge you’re walking along the water for a decent amount of it. Elevation is steep but well worth it.
Very nice hike. Went on a Sunday and it was not too crowded at all! Will be back. Make sure to bring water, there is a good amount of up and down hills. Beautiful views of the water, I recommend going by the water for a break for some serenity and a nice view.
good workout, steepish climbs and descents on hills. A bit overgrown, no real views, but decent workout
Midway through you end up at a chain link fence with a no trespassing sign that makes you have to walk down a steep hill to get back on a trail which can be quite confusing.
