Wading River: Godfrey Bridge Rd to Bodine Field Rd is a 5.4 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Chatsworth, New Jersey that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for camping and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This is a wonderful paddle, and can take 4 to 6 hours, depending on the water level and river situation. I am considering doing it again this weekend, but Mick's Canoe seems to be closed for the season. Can anyone else comment on the quality of the river and if it's running high or low?
Recently took our boy scout troop on a canoeing trip on the Wading River. I recommend this trip in the fall. We used a canoe company to drop us off upstream out of convenience. You can use your own canoes but you need to work out the logistics. Anyway, ths canoe trip is great for a beginner 6 mile ride. Great pics and no noise pollution. Camped at Bodine. The river trip brings us back to Bodie. Nice clean large sites, with facilities. Bring a saw to cut fire wood. The scouts had plenty of room to do scout stuff like compass and map orientation, cooking, etc. Clean, affordable and lots to do nearby if it rains. Water in theriver is still warm if you have an out of canoe experience.
