Some scrambles but overall a really nice hike! Amazing views of the NYC skyline and over the nearby lakes.

Hard to follow the trail at times, and you do have to cross a shallow creek, so make sure shoes are waterproof. The castle ruins are great though and you can see Manhattan from the top!

A lot of fun. I seem to have done it backwards compared to how most people were going, but I think after the hard scramble up in the beginning the rest of it was easier in my direction!

I went the morning after about .5 - 1 inches of snow fell and it was still doable. As long as you wear shoes with decent traction and walk carefully, it should be okay! It was also super muddy near the end (going clockwise).

Rocky well marked trail, slippery today with the fresh snow but manageable. The ruins and view were the payoff. NYC not visible through the clouds but Ramapo Lake was partially frozen and just stunning.

Rocks for This was a really fun hike, with lots of rocks for scrambling and exploring. We followed the White Trail (Castle Loop) all the way around, which was a total of 3.5 miles. I'm not sure where the shortcut was.

Short hike with a view of the NYC skyline. The ruins were great too. I think I went the opposite way on the loop that AllTrails was telling me to... I'm still figuring out how to use it. I followed the white trail markers towards Ramapo Lake. There was one short uphill scramble right before you get to the ruins.

We loved this one! Went with my 7 and 10 year olds. It was the perfect level for us and the castle ruins were a lot of fun. Parking lot is very small. I pulled in to the lot and waited about 20 minutes for someone to pull out. (11:30am on a Sunday).
