Short hike with nice views that passes an unusual stone livingroom. Catch the blue blazed Hewitt Butler Trail. It climbs a rocky area, then crosses the beginning of the red blazed Tourne Trail. Continue past the red trail and up a fairly steep slope. Upon reaching the top there are some nice views to the northwest. In an open area to your left is an interesting stone living room, complete with chairs, arm rests, love seats, hassocks and end tables, all made of stone. The view from the living room is a nice one, making it a great place for lunch. Continue on the blue trail and it begins to descend steeply down a rocky area and crosses the red trail again at the bottom of a rocky ravine. Continue on the blue. It begins to climb again and you'll shortly reach the summit, known as Osio Rock, with excellent 360 degree views thanks to the gypsy moths killing all the trees there. Turn around and retrace your steps back down and catch the red trail in the ravine. After short scramble over rocks its an easy walk back to the car.

Great views on much of the blue and red trails between Otter's Hole and Oslo Rock. Some areas had standing water today to avoid, but nothing too hard to manage. For the area on the blue trail to choose easier vs rockier path-the rockier starts out just fine and gets to a pretty steep all rock area. Enjoyed it, but some may prefer the less steep option.

Great hike. A little rocky. Nice views and close to NYC

So close to home and never disappoints. Done this 4 times in different directions and for only 2 miles it has a bit of everything. Great views, steep inclines and declines (if you choose that route) and rock scrambles.

This trail is great! Moderate is a good rating as you don’t really have too many strenuous spots but overall just very consistent rocky uphill/downhill terrain. There is a part where you can select to go the more difficult steep part, and I chose to go the easier alternate route because I had my dog with me who occasionally struggles with big rocks. You have plenty of great areas to rest with beautiful views!! I will definitely be doing this hike again.

Loved it - great mix of flat trails, hills and a bit of steep rock. Great views!

Such a great trail. Went 3/30, some parts were flooded but easy to move around. Nothing really blooming, but deserted and peaceful.

Did this a few months back without Osio rock. Today did the whole hike in reverse of how i did it last time. A bit of a challenge going the opposite way with rock scrambles Again great panoramic views and 360 view from Osio rock.

Follow the black on blue blazes once past the stone living room to join the red blaze bearing right. If you bear left it dead ends not far from where they both meet. Great hike but doing the complete loop past the peak can be difficult at times.

I walk this area several times a year with friends and family and we enjoy it every time. This is such a great hike if you are in the area or even if you're willing to drive out. It has a wide range of sights, climbs, and wildlife that will make you want to come back in different parts of the year! The view of the skyline and the area alone is worth it. i really cannot recommend this hike enough!!

Great hike - - nice challenge. Views were great and the stone living room is real cool! There's a beautiful breeze at that location.

Great hike, very exciting and adventurous for kids! We recommend taking the blue trail (w views) to Oslo Rock and the red trail (shorter, no views) back.

Views are nice but nothing astounding IMO, the Living Room is cool and a great place to relax and chat mid hike.

Has become my go-to hike when I'm looking for something quick and not to strenuous.

This is a fun loop and a quick hike. The living room is cool and the rock scrambles add excitement. I linked this together with the Carris Hill Loop for a long afternoon of hiking. I started at about noon and finished around 4:30. Thunderstorms moving in from the east helped to nudge me along towards the end.
This would be awesome in the fall when the leaves turn and I plan on going back to Osio Rock with the kids.

incredible views. love this hike. Made it a little longer by going beyond osio rock. We eventually turned around but it made our hike another 1 or so. We still had lots of time left in the day so we decided to climb up buck mountain which was brutal. Great views thouugh. Took blue beyond osio rock and torne mountain for a good half mile or so. Then came back on blue crossed the road and turned left on green and teal. Then met up with Yellow and teal and turned left. Climbed up Buck Mountain. Took a break at the top. Came back down. We slid down nearly half way. We couldnt help but just laugh! Very fun hike

It was initially a nice but strenuous hike up to rocky view points, unfortunately on the way back tried to go the red trail and lost the blaze along the way (where there are a lot of trees down) and instead got to the Kampfe Lake area and hiked along the road back to parking area, not so much fun :(

Nice short hike. Little strenuous initially as you scale the rocky path up to the view points. Up top you really have some nice look outs. We hiked the blue trail (hewitt butler trail). We parked off glenwild ave. We entered across the street from the parking lot. It took us about 2 hours exactly to hike to Osio rock and back.

It's a fairly short hike but offers a variety of terrain. I enjoyed the short scramble up bare rocks going towards the Living Room. Views are nice, and there's quite a bit of wildlife to see, especially raptors. There are plenty of chances to simply sit and enjoy the view and some stone seats have been constructed.

Short hike done on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Can get a little tough at points with 2 or 3 steep scrambles but none too tall. Some great views on a clear day. This is a perfect starter trail for those who consider a hike to be a relaxing walk in the woods. The stone living room is just off the trail, which is a nice novelty to experience. I think we'll seriously consider grilling some burgers there in the fire pit next time.

Nice hike if you're looking for something short, moderately difficult, and interesting. Took the entrance to the blue trail (Hewitt-Butler Trail) from Glenwild Avenue/Otterhole Road in Bloomingdale. From there, the trail split and we went left and took the red trail, which is the true Tourne Mountain trail. A few difficult spots including uncomfortable declines and fairly steep inclines. This hike was tough at the time -- we did it in nearly 100 degree, high humidity weather with zero clouds. A few stone outlooks give nice views but very little shade, if at all. The stone living room was a cool feature: a set of stone chairs arranged in a circle around a table. Looks like a great place for a mid-hike lunch. Be aware that on hot afternoons, the sun shines directly on the chairs with no shade whatsoever. Took the blue path back to Glenwild Avenue, which was shaded from the sun and with near-constant decline. The weather was the only downside. I would do this hike again, maybe several times. Short, very enjoyable, good difficulty, and keeps you interested.
