Amazing trail!! It is open! It has a sign that says close but people are still hiking it. The view is breathtaking! Worth the hike.

Great hike however still closed despite state reopening parks! Both Stairway to heaven and the boards in Vernon. Called the town police & they said these trails are too small to social distance on and will remain closed until further notice.

Nice little climb to a good view point but the trail is super crowded which kind of ruins the appeal.

Great hike. Started at 11am and ground was still frozen. Hike to the top was not icy at all. Way back got pretty muddy when the ground was more defrosted but all manageable.

Very fun trail with lengthy boardwalk and cow pasture that eventually leads up a steep and rocky scramble to an absolutely stunning view. Most of the climb takes places at the very end during the stairway to heaven portion- the first several miles are mild and scenic.

Came out early on a Saturday AM in January. Lots of deer hunters out.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and the trail was pretty crowded. There were all kinds of groups on the trail - families with young kids, people with dogs, groups of college kids, older folks, etc. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. It got steep near the top of the stairway. There were a lot of people that had trouble on the way up - heaving and wheezing and stopping every few yards. It's really not a beginner's hike. The walk through the boardwalk area was nice and easy though. It was fairly pretty in winter, but I can imagine this being a beautiful hike in Spring or Fall.

Loved this. I went on a Friday afternoon and the trails were virtually empty. There is a clean porta potty at the trailhead. I went 1.5 miles past Stairway to heaven and came upon a really pretty river. 10 miles round trip.

Pretty crowded (even in October), steep but not difficult, well worth the gorgeous views. Trail is very well marked.

Beginning of the wooden trail is a beautiful walkway above the marsh. It later transitions though a wooded area to plains where you may see some cows. After crosses the highway, you'll begin your ascent through the stairway. There will be scrambles along the way; nothing overly difficult. This is a crowded trail, so try to make it there early!

Very busy trail, lots of people and dogs but a really nice hike. Not very buggy (went in early October) and a nice walk to the mountain. Definitely steep and rocky but not too challenging if you watch your steps. All in all, really nice way to spend an afternoon!

Starts out really easy going on a board walk through marshlands. Has a really cool suspension bridge and decent views. Once you make it to the end of the boardwalk it’s not too bad still, rocky, hard packed dirt, but not too rough. The last little bit before you get to the mountain base is a plank walk through a pasture. Really cool scenery. Then you cross the road and start the climb. About 2/3 of the way up the trail markers get a little harder to find and really need to be redone. Remember if you lose the trail stay calm and back track a little til you find it. Stay calm. Once you get to the summit it’s gorgeous and totally worth all the rocks you just climbed over.

First time here this past weekend and it immediately became a favorite. Love the serenity of the boardwalk and the ruggedness and required effort of the staircase. Will definitely be coming back!
