Great trail with many rocks of all shapes and sizes, several mild ascents/descents (except for initial climb from Culvers gap which is more intense), and multiple nice views/ridge walking interspersed throughout. The whole look/feel of the trail changes quite a bit along the way so is never boring. Was dreading the return trip part of it at first, but ended up enjoying as much as the initial hike out due to the variety. The segment of Buttermilk Falls trail is very steep and rocky and would be tricky to do on a wet day as there are several spots where it includes walking on long sloped rock. The Woods Trail loop part is the least rocky and a more gradual incline back up to the AT. It also does not get as much traffic so you may have to deal with spiderwebs where the trail narrows (though is mostly wider old access road type of trail). Could optionally continue past Buttermilk Falls trail and make small loop around Crater Lake for even more scenery.
