I’ve decided to hike the entire loop which took me 4hrs 43min. It’s best to do the entire thing, park at the boat ducks and start from there. Very rocky in some parts, ensure hands are free for climbing. I had a lot of fun, will do it again just note to myself carry less stuff.

This trail is so much fun ! You hike right along side the water with a great view of Yonkers . Great work out due to varied terrain . You can hike this trail for at least 3 hours and you don’t see too many people on these trails . The markers are white and can be a tad hard to see due to the moss but there’s only one trail so there’s no way for you to get lost ! If you’re not sure , check this trail out and you’ll be very much surprised !

I can classify this as a moderate hike only because of the steep climb midway. You pretty much walk with minimal elevation for almost 5.5 miles of this trail. But that 0.3-0.4 mile hike is indeed steep and rocky, and is definitely a thigh burning one for beginners, although it's pretty safe with no risk involved. That part comes halfway through the trail.
Loved the views, the mountain behind, the Hudson, and the trail is very well maintained too. Moderate crowd and ample parking near the parks commission office. You won't get exposure to much sunlight too as the park is well shaded and pretty cool.
We took exit 2 and parked the car at the lot near commissions office and the police lot.
Then we went southwards, from the parking spot, the trail running in parallel to the road. That way, you get to do the steep climb halfway through the trail. Check my trail map for details.
Overall a nice 3 hour workout ! Definitely recommend.

The trail runs along the river and can be a little tough to navigate for some people. The view of the city, river, and the ruins are great to check out.

Don't try and bring a stroller down the trail. You'll want to stick to the paved paths.

Terrific way to spend an afternoon! I completed this loop in ~2hrs 15min and clocked in at 5.9 miles starting and ending at the police barracks parking lot.

The trails are clearly marked and well maintained. If you're hiking after several days of rain (like I was) there will be lots of mud and long stretches of wet and watery trail. Strongly recommend waterproof hiking boots or trail runners - stay dry! Also be aware that the northern switchback from the water up to the palisades is fairly steep - basically stone stairs from bottom to top.

Dog friendly save for a few spots where our 20lb dog couldn't quite scale over fallen trees. Easy for a larger dog, though. He had a good time.

Beautiful views and, save for the distance and wet patches, a great day.

The initial part of the trail was difficult for anyone not used to walking as it has a steep incline. Great views of the Hudson River and some neat waterfalls. Also some nice historical facts posted at the beginning of the trail.

Definitely not for dogs. The trail is quite rocky and would hard for dogs to navigate with their paws. Beautiful scenes, quite a workout. Don't think young kids would care for the uphill climb at parts. Could not take a stroller of you wanted to.

Fairly easy trail. Beginning at Ross Dock, the trail is used by many, however, beyond the Englewood picnic area and marina the trail is in more of its natural state. The terrain varies from paved, smooth dirt and dirt road peppered with small rocks. Some steep stairs ascending to the top. The highlight was spotting an American Bald Eagle flying above us.
