Very pretty area. Gets a little tight on the trails sometimes. I hung out a little bit by the water and it was less crowded. Good for dogs as well.

I love Round Valley. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the state. This trail shows off some of the best views of the reservoir and the rock beaches. Tail is well maintained and usually pretty quiet, but has been subject to a large influx of people since social distancing has been enacted. Highly recommend!

There are five trails with trailheads off the South parking area (see map pic). The Pine Tree Trail is an easy 1.5 mile loop off the parking lot. At one end of the loop, it connects with the Blue Trail, which has spectacular views of the Reservoir. The Blue Trail (about 1 mile from parking lot to Green Trail) connects and overlaps with the White Trail. All of these trails are well marked. Some of the blazes are on rocks on the ground and dead trees, so you should be looking up and down for trail signs. We had a terrific time, walking on the green, blue and white trails. By dint of backtracking and repeating some of our favorite bits, we got 7.25 miles under our belt. It was a beautiful day and this entire section of the park was blessed with the wonderful scent of mountain laurel.

The blue trail isn’t a loop, its a one way, one mile trail. You can turn it into a loop by taking the green trail back instead of turning around. Both the blue and green trails lead you back to the south parking lot. The green trail is a loop so either way you take will bring you back to the parking lot. Nice view of the reservoir. Leisurely with a moderate incline at the end of the blue trail.

The trails are well marked... but it’s not very exciting to hike. I’m confused as to how this got a moderate rating, since there is almost no elevation change and we never broke a sweat. Seems to be a much better trail for biking.

It’s very pretty here! Got off an airplane and wanted to stretch my legs. Easy trail but not sure how I ended up on the green trail when I was following the blue one. Scenic and shaded. Glad I came here.

2.27.19. A very nice, moderate hike around a small part of the Round Valley Reservoir. I took the Blue trail and then connected to the Cushetunk trail (marked by green posts with red tops) and continued south for a bit. I then retraced my steps and connected to the Pine Tree trail (green blazes) back to the lot. The Blue trail by the water is spectacular. My stats for this combination: Distance: 5.5 miles Elevation Gain: 627 feet Moving Time: 1:47:57

Muddy

The All Trails map doesn't follow the Blue Trail map. Did have a quarter mile detour to the summit. Path is muddy in spots and overgrown on the back loop. There is a short walk down the service road to finish.

Fall blooms coming into peak. Damp and chilly day but once you get moving warms up. Nice and easy. Blue trail into the green. Hugged the beach for a bit then up through a pine grove. One minor incline and all ground. Good for beginners and children. Picked a couple of ticks off the dog and the wife when we got home.

Great hike though not quite a true loop. Gets overgrown as the loop gets closer to the end. Hiked with my wife and three daughters age 6,5 and 2. Carried the two year old half of it but older daughters loved it. Very scenic and pleasant walkabout

Pretty easy hike and nice views. Very muddy and almost felt like a walk through the park versus an actual hike. The trail to the campsites is more challenging here but overall, this trail is decent for a quick view of Round Valley. Despite all the 'There is NO poop fairy' signs, many canine owners on this trail do not pickup after their dogs, which makes for more than enough land mines along the route, unfortunately.

Took my border collie with me to accompany me. Beautiful beach and view. The hike was alongside the beach about 75% of the time, the 25% being in woods or alongside the road. There is a fee to enter the park ($5)
