This trail is not marked well so that it is difficult to find correct root.

Beautiful lake views most of the way. Plenty of areas with large smooth rocks to hang out on.

Reasonably well maintained trails but poorly marked for sure. Keep a close eye on you map during this hike or you’ll end up off trail pretty easily. Trail offers some nice foliage and a couple of nice views at the end, but really mostly just forest the whole way.

An ok trail there was not much of a scenery just a long trail walk. The trail marks need to be more clear we had to stop a couple of times trying to figure out where the marks are.

I love this trail. It follows the stream to a beautiful waterfall. After the waterfall it follows the stream up to the second lake than u can take the trail around the lake. Haven’t finished the entire trail , but I plan on it very soon. What a great trail

Nothing special. Free parking, Google maps directions are confusing at the very entrance - google insists you make a right turn where there is a sign ‘no entry’ so that you continue driving down Route 202 for couple more miles.
The hike itself is crowded at the beginning, right off the parking lot. There is no ranger station or visitor center, so get your maps before you start. Or take a picture of a map on the parking lot. There are a lot of trails, so you can make your own route, adjusting the length. There are quite a few dogs on the trial that are let off leash, so just be careful. The Bear Swamp Lake at the middle of the loop is pretty much a swamp covered with lots of water lilies. It’s technically a lake but it’s swampy and breeds gazillions of mosquitoes. Don’t you even consider going without a bug spray- you’d be eaten alive. Bring a bug spray with you as well - we had to apply it several times during the hike. There are 2 other lakes on the trail that are in a better condition.
There are couple of interesting places that look like cabin ruins around the lake with chimneys and some walls. We had lunch at one of those. But that is pretty much it. All trails are well marked and easy to follow and well maintained for the most part.

Very good workout. We walked whole loop and enjoyed most of it. We were attacked by flies by Bear Swamp Lake. It was so many of them that we almost ran.

Trail mark colors need to be marked on the AllTrails map.
Moderate hike, nice scenery, can swim in the lake.
Trail is marked well. But some sections of the trail had trees fallen. This needs to be cleaned up.
Flies everywhere.

Went with two kids—8 and 6–They got a little bored while we stuck to the road, but when we went off the road and on some actual trails or climbing over some of the many rocks scattered along the hills, they enjoyed themselves. Haven’t made it all the way around loop yet. Will probably have to do it without kids.

Hiked as a stewardship trip for Blue Friday with Campmor and NYNJ Trails yesterday! Nice initial incline and with the rest of the trail being very reasonable. Went with 12 year olds, dogs, and a mixed group. Nice views of the valley! Kudos to hikers for keeping it clean, we picked up less garbage than I thought we would!

This place is incredible! Been here numerous times. I have hiked all trails in all seasons. Best hiking by far in New Jersey. I have been to many trails in south and central and west nj. This place has all types of trails. Great workout trails that last hours and small easy quick ones to take in the scenery. Great for dogs and kids. Drive two hrs every other weekend to get here and it's worth it. Make sure you arrive early in weekend before 930am. This place gets tons of visitors and the lot is jammed packed. Beautiful streams and waterfalls and overlooks and lakes. Plan accordingly if you take deep long hike. Never go off trail ticks snakes and getting lost can be avoided if planned and prepared.

Note; if your taking rt 17 as if aug 27th road blocked but there is a detour.

Perfect if you just want to see the wooded outdoors. This path has 2 lakes for you to lookout on. Also features a beautiful waterfall. I know somewhere in the park you can go swimming near the waterfall. Also bring your dog if you can. There are tons of people with their dogs on this trail. Also its pretty well made for strollers too. Just be prepared for the big inclines while making your way up to the big lake.

Lots of free parking and easy trail signs.
The lower loop of the park around the lake is great for an easy stroll and great view. The trial to the top has some s steep parts but it's manageable. The trail has great views of the stream leading down the mountain. Lots of dogs along the way and stroller friendly

Great trail the trial gets steep but I got a running stroller up the hill.
Lots of water falls and small animals along the way.
Great way to spend about 2-3 hours

Did the Yellow trial counter clockwise to the reservoir then the blue trail back. Three good views in 3.3 miles. Good with kids.

Considering Sterling Forest is not that far away, you're better off going there. Ramapo is okay but it's too close to highways and flight paths, if a little tranquility and distance from man-made noises is important to you.

No cave, no waterfall, basically just the lake. Lots of people at beginning and end of the trails since it is connected with the easy ones.
