Hikers visiting the top of Mount Tammany can take a variety of routes. The route shown on this page follows the Red Dot Trail up a steep and rocky trail to the summit. This route then has the hiker turn around come back down the Red Dot Trail. Many hikers choose to continue past the summit onto the Blue Dot Trail eventually returning to the parking lot. You could also take the Blue Dot Trail up and back - which is easier than the Red Dot Trail.

Parking on Saturdays and some Sundays during the summer can be a challenge after 10 AM at Dunnfield Creek and at Kittatinny Point. The Pocono Pony provides a free shuttle from the Delaware Water Gap (PA) Park and Ride every 1/2 hour on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. For more information: gomcta.com/trip Did this hike on January 6, 2019 - great winter day, but warm enough to hike with just a light jacket.

This is an AMAZING hike. There are some very steep and rocky parts of the trail but the view at the top is 110% worth it! Highly highly recommend!!!

First time here and a total newbie to this kind of a hike. Was difficult at first but not really hard. I took some advice and went up the red trail and down the blue. The views were spectacular and the clear water and waterfalls on the way down were gorgeous. Had the pleasure of seeing some nice folks on the trail. Walked with a young lady on the way down and made the experience so much the better as I was a bit of a fish out of water. Inspired me to take on more hikes in the future, so, whoever you are, thank you so very much!
