Great lake views and lovely nature. Don't go just after the rain as will be muddy. Well marked trail. Saw turtles and lots of chipmunks.

Great walk, a little muddy. Wasn’t prepared for it. Good fun calm walk. Low traffic

this is a good one for a walk with kids

Crisp morning with lots of birds

Nice weather and great views from around the lake.

This was a quick and easy walk. A little muddy today in spots but still really nice.

Perfect trail with a young kid for company. Fun to loop around a long lake and turnabout a surprise dam and waterfall. Plenty of picnic tables. Playground and bathroom nearby in a 3min driving distance.

Basic around-the-lake walk. Trail needs some maintenance but is passable.

Wouldn’t go around the second part of the lake. A lot of thorns!! Overall nice quick hike before work. Wanted to get over 100 miles for the month

Easy and fun flat loop around Surprise Lake with my 13 yr old daughter. Someone said it was closed a few weeks ago. Open now.

The water has algae bloom and there was a foul smell in the air. We would love to go back when it gets cleaned up. It really is a beautiful area and close to home for me.

Not so much a hike as a breezy walk. Still a great couple hours. A lot of families and fishermen but a good day overall. Well marked.

The trail as drawn is just short of two miles but there are several intersecting trails to explore if you wish to extend your time. There is a small parking area across the street from the trailhead. Mostly flat and good for just about all skill levels. Well blazed but hard to get lost. As others have mentioned, this trail is very muddy. Lots of fallen trees. Very busy with people, families, dogs, horses, bicyclists, anglers, etc. Surprisingly little trash. A few interpretive signs which was a bonus. Overall a nice place that could use a bit a maintenance and would benefit from less usage. Will return to explore the rest of the area.

Great easy hike, not busy early In a weekday. If you look closely and don’t make too much noise you will see lots of turtles sunning themselves on the fallen trees on the western side of the the lake at waters edge.

A few muddy patches but nothing to cry about. A fair amount of solace but a few people playing music. I don’t know the bicycle situation but I did see some tracks. My first proper hike through this park and I have to say here at the start of spring time it’s beautiful.
