Awesome trail with lots of wildlife. We loved that it was a beach hike but also went through wooded areas and meadows. It had a bit of everything.

Hiking

First half of the hike is a long walk on the beach so if you like that then this is for you. Second half the hike was more our style. I didn’t find the trail that hard to follow using all trails map , the smell wasn’t horrible like some say.

So this was a nice, scenic trail with a variety of terrain (a lot of soft sand, forest soil, and some nice green fields) with lovely views of the ocean, the lake and the marshes. However, the trails are very poorly maintained, are well overgrown and are NOT properly marked. We, along with several others, were lost for a bit, and had to google-map our way back. The sign posts are good for the first part of the trail, but as you get deeper into the trail, they are virtually non-existent, and the trails are so overgrown, it's hard to find them in certain spots. There are no maps available at the beginning of the trail so unless you have been there before, it is hard to know how and where the trail loops.

Nice beach to view from afar but the water smells like a septic tank. There are so many flying insects, regardless of how much bug spray you use, they attack your face and arms non-stop. Definitely would not recommend this “trail” unless you have a beekeeper suit and enjoy walking on brittle sand 75% of the loop.

Such a nice trail on the beach and through hidden passageways! Sand is hot in the summer so be mindful when taking your pups (will feel like fire on their little paws ) !

From the parking lot we headed into a trail rather than the sandy path to the beach. We first found ourselves in a meadow and then in on a very overgrown wooded trail. It wasn’t well marked and we basically had to rely on trying to point ourselves East, to eventually find the beach again. When we finally did, there was no sign pointing us back to the parking lot. Better signage and trail maintenance would go a long way here.

Great trail mix...beach, ocean, woods, ponds, etc. Wood trails likely overgrown during summer and ticks more active.

Lots of different ways you can go on multiple Trails. You feel like you are in a maze. Be careful of getting ticks. Found one on my boyfriend.A little bit of mosquitoes. Nice Lookout points.

lots of wildlife - birds, squirrels, nude sunbather, dolphins. Kids had a great time skipping rocks as we walked up the beach. Sunset Beach afterwards for ice cream!

Fun and easy hike with the kids (12 & 14). Started in the dunes, walk through the woods. Nice little lake with swans. Can hear the ocean the whole hike. Ended up back at the beach to walk back.

Path to gorgeous, secluded, natural beach and bird watch area. Sunsets by bird watch area are stunning. Love all the chatter of the birds in the morning and evening.

It was pretty cool. Very hot out, but shaded in spots and the ocean is always close by to cool off in. It is a dope spot to hike.
