We continue to find new trails at Herrontown Woods. There are many more trails than those shown on All Trails currently. Yes, we were on official trails for almost all of the GPS mapped activity here!

Serene walk today with pretty sunshine around the Blue and Red trails plus the bonus of the Autumn Hill Reservation circular trail. On the north west Herrontown Woods Red Trail it is quite waterlogged, however, interestingly there were two men out on the trail today working on draining the water off. Quite impressive to see people working on the trail on Thanksgiving Day.

Nice leisurely stroll through the woods. Some muddy spots despite no rain for a few days. The trail is pretty well marked, except there is a discrepancy on the map in trail coloring near the Red Garage at Veblen Cottage. The map shows the Blue trail immediately next to the garage, however there is no Blue marker...instead, there is a Red path and a Yellow path. So if you're headed to the Autumn Hill parking lot on Herrontown Road, take the Yellow trail until it turns to Blue.

HikingGreat!Muddy

Good fall hike. Treading on the wooded walk frequented by Einstein who often stopped by for tea at the now dilapidated venblen house was real nostalgic. Can squeeze an extra 3-4 miles between yellow And red trails. A Hidden wooded gem in Princeton area.Need good shoes/hiking shoes preferably.

This is a beautiful set of trails with interesting history. Thank you to those that are overseeing these woods. The trails provide an oasis of interesting terrain in that there are streams, rocks and roots plus one is surrounded by serene trees and plants. Plenty of birds and animal life mean that it is as close to nature as one can get. An interesting walk is half of the Herrontown Woods circular one shown on AllTrails and then breaking off to go up to Autumn Hill Reservation parking lot on the short “unmarked” trail. Then complete the Autumn Hill trail circle before returning to complete the Herrontown Woods remainder of the circular walk on AllTrails. Fortunately, all the trails, including for both Herrontown Woods and Autumn Hill Reservation, show up on the AllTrails app and can be followed on that.

Pretty cool trail if you’re local. The highlights were definitely the cool abandoned house and barn. I definitely like the fact that it seems like it’s geared towards children doing “outdoors stuff” instead of glued to cellphones. Thumbs up!

Very nice enjoyable local trail. Fun water crossings. Boulders, creeks and foliage. A must do for Princeton/ Kingston residents. A touch of history as well.

Very well maintained and well marked. Will be back in the summer. The creek towards the end of red trail is perfect to dip your toes in on a hot summer day

Walking

A beautiful set of trails with convenient parking. Several streams to cross with rock walkways. Some history with Einstein and a barn and cabin. Trails are rocky with lots of roots. You could never ride a bike on the trails. After a rain many trails turn to small runoff streams, but the people who maintain the trails have cleverly placed stones to help keep you feet dry. There are a few places where trails spit that you need to check to be sure you are still following your desired trail. This is an excellent place for the entire family to explore and I would highly recommend it for scouts learning to hike and navigate trails.

It was an easy but fun hike. We did the red trail all through. It was well marked. Even though I went a day after rains, it was not overly muddy and we could complete it. It's quite overgrown and fairly dense that we hardly saw anyone else in the whole preserve.
