With no leaves on the trees views in the park were especially good. Started on Dykeman street near westside Hudson River. Nice to walk in the woods over the mountain to the northern tip of Manhatttan. There were some huge beautiful trees. Took a path along the Hudson River back to Dykeman street. Nice views along the water.

I walked along the river. It is a fairly rocky trail there and the fallen leaves hide the unevenness. My ankles were pretty sure afterward.

Hike was NOT moderate - it was very easy so that was a let down. A couple of Little dirt trails but the hike was mostly on paved roads which was disappointing. Lots of down trees. Pluses were some small little beaches on the walk, but otherwise no amazing overlooks or views

It was milder then I expected. I went to side tracks and used more the shore trail instead which was with less elevations and more beautiful views. Also one more advise: definitely see the waterfall when going up to on the trail. Thanks

Walking

The trail was closed off on Saturday morning. Suspect it was the storm and fallen trees. The waterfalls were cute though.

It was beautiful! We first hit the stairs that led us past waterfalls, came back down and then walked a portion of the walking/running path. There are spots along the walking path that you can use to get down to the sandy/rocky shore. We skipped stones and searched for rocks and sea glass to add to our collection. Weather was great and being along the coast gave us a breeze. It was a great day!

I did a shorter version of this hike as I parked further, and it was great! I will update review with more details.

Nice trail, got there at 8am and was pretty empty. We had our dog with us and it was definitely easy enough for her as well. Be aware that there are a ton of dead fish on some parts of the trail, which was a bit gross and added some difficulty with keeping the dog from trying to eat them (which is what gave this a 4 instead of 5). Note: If you use the app and click “directions” and go to Google maps, it took us close to the right place but to an entry via a private road so we had to find another entry. If you instead get directions to “The Snack Shack NJ” it took us to the correct parking lot.

Dead dear on the side of the trail. Wish I had a side arm to put him out of his suffering.

There is two options for this hike, the river walk and the road. We walked the trail along the road and then down to the river. It is very crowded so I recommend going early. I hike to get away from it all sort to speak and this was too busy for my liking. The views of the city are fine, but you will see a lot of trash and some dead fish on shore. I actually had a nice time despite that, but if you are an avid hiker looking to escape, this may not be for you. Parking is 5 dollars.

Many trails crossings which makes it a bit difficult to understand which trail you are on. Majority of the trail is a paved road, which is perfect for biking, however a bit boring for hiking.
