I would recommend this trail for any new hikers or pinelands transplants. In a short and easy trail, you get a good look at several Pine Barrens habitats, in addition to the historic ruins. Nature lovers can find a variety of wildlife here. Also interesting are the remaining catalpa trees that have survived since the area was an iron furnace in the early-mid 1800s.

Most of the trail is also a road; therefore, it is not relaxing. It also is quite boring. I pulled 7 ticks off me and it was not worth it.

Hiked this loop today with 5 people and 8 dogs. Trail was well maintained. There was some large puddles, but was able to walk around all of them. Will do this one again.

Good family trail starts off real nice hiking along a cool wooded area along the lake soon as you get to the upper area of the trail it turns into sandy wooded roads which I wouldn’t classify as a trail...the scenery also disappears in this area with no visuals of the lake
