Smooth and even trail along converted rail line. (7 miles) The middle section of the Delaware and Raritan Feeder Canal trail deviates from the canal itself and runs for the most part on converted rail line. This doesn't change the surface of the trail, which remains smooth and level. Hostorically, this section of the canal was to supply water to the lower, more commercial sections of the canal. Utilizing the pedestrian-only bridge at Bulls Island and the bridge between Lambertville and New Hope to join the Delaware Canal towpath on the Pennsylvania side make a loop of 13.6 miles.

Can be monotonous at times but lot of great reveals at the Mill and coming into Stockton and Lambertville. Lots of gnats in morning, but plenty of shade in this section.

Nice trail. Late in day saw a turkey, juvenile eagle, and deer along upper stretch of trail.
