The Delaware and Raritan Feeder Canal itself doesn't extend far above Bulls Island but the bike trail covers the entire distance along converted rail line, meaning the grade is even and the surface is smooth. There are plenty of parking opportunities and there seems to be a picnic bench every mile or so. You can make a 17 mile loop by utilizing the bridge at Frenchtown to cross over to Uherlerstown and the pedestrian-only bridge at Bulls Island to join the Delaware Canal towpath on the Pennsylvania side of the river.

We really enjoyed our run! If I were to have any complaints it would be to have a bathroom/ porta potty at the parking lots. Not sure how many people are runners, but this can be an issue for some! Finished and had brunch at the Lovin Oven. Perfect adventure.

This is another, nice stroll on an old canal towpath - more of a walk than a hike, but I suppose that depends on how far you go. It's pleasant anyway, especially away from the crowds in Frenchtown, and especially in the fall. As a multi-use trail, you'll probably run into (not literally) several bikes and dogs.
