Cushetunk Mountain White and Blue Trail is a 5.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Readington Township, New Jersey that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This trail starts with a tough directly uphill, no recommendable for beginners or children. It is overgrowth and rocky at the summit, very well marked though.
white trail northern section up the mountain is closed Jan 1-Aug 1 apparently. you'll have to double back on yellow trail or service road. Saw people getting tickets in the white trail parking lot, possibly due to overfill? the yellow trail is very close to white trail entrance, I suggest taking that to the blue trail, then you can circle back on the service road. in winter, at the top of blue trail you can see far over nearby towns through the bare trees overall a pretty nice set of trails. wildlife, flat sections and decent inclines. surprisingly quick, I'd plan on doing multiple trails
this was my second time on this trail. it was cold , wet , muddy , light snow covered and foggy at the top. But i had a great time !!! The Good: only seen 3 other CRAZY people on the trail. Didn't have to worry about mask as we far apart. This was my first Snow covered trail of this season (20/21). I'm still loving this mountain. The Bad: The Mud and Snow made the trail Slippery , and Sloppy. This trail is STILL a Solid 4.6 I can't wait for this coming Spring/Summer season. mountain should be gorgeous .
Very wet and soupy from the rain. You have to go off trail to see the lake which makes it closer to 7 miles.
Great hike. Steep climb to the top. Straight up. Would probably be beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing colors.
Bring boots to support your ankles. or Water proof shoes if it rain the day before to walk comfortable n not with wet feet. lol
Lots and Lots of Rocks and Boulders and ohh yeah hills too. The Good: For me it's an hour away, Good Elevation (read steeep hills), and Wildlife. Trail was fairly well marked. The Bad: way too many people, atleast half were Masked. portion of the trail was muddy, it's also a little slippery because of the leaves and mud. BTW: This mountain is great for a Serious Weekender person. it's Very Rocky near and at the top. Please do not attempt this Mountain without Trekking Poles. and Good Boots. i really didn't see any good clear views. inconclusion I have found a close but challenging Mountain for myself. This is a Solid 4.6 to many people and all. this was an enjoyable Trail
