Started from Pickell Park in whitehouse. A couple of challenging climbs. From the White Ridge trail you can get a glimpse of the reservoir. Pretty hike, fairly challenging in places.
The trail is muddy in some places, especially at the beginning before the ascent up the mountain. This is a moderate-hard hike with several steep uphill and downhill sections. Definitely recommend taking a detour to go by the lake, it's beautiful and calm there.
A little muddy to start. It's moderate-hard, more so than Sourland Mtn. Beautiful day and nice view of the reservoir. The people you see are very friendly and it's not nearly as crowded as Sourland. I will definitely be coming back!
Nice trail. Well maintained. Good workout, steep extended uphills, with a good payoff in the views of the reservoir from the ridge.
I would say the hike in terms of a work out is a 5, but the hike and views are about a 3. Overall I would give a 4. Definitely steep inclines in a couple different places, the declines were difficult on the knees. Huge parking lot, we were the only hikers on a Sunday morning from 7am to 9am. This was worth a hike but won’t hurry back.
Probably better in the spring or summer, the fallen leaves made the mountain climb slick.
Beautiful autumn colors. Could see more of the reservoir from the ridge line than earlier in the year. Wish I had brought my poles for the uphill / downhill stretches. :)
Decent hike. I strongly recommend going down to the Reservoir because it was beautiful - very peaceful. This hike had a few inclines and declines. The main ascent towards the beginning was strenuous. Overall, I think the moderate rating is fitting.
It was a fine trail. Very high elevation and steep. Not that many views. Good for a good burn, but not really for beginners.
