The trail was very muddy and wet. It was not well marked, which made it hard to follow the All Trails map. The vistas were not that aesthetic, with houses and highways in view. This trail should be rated Moderate. I recommend going south at the start of the back loop. Overall, this hike was disappointing.

Fun trail, only couple of spots where you have to be careful, do some minor climbing which makes this qualify as hard. Otherwise some rocky terrain where you just have to watch your footing for some parts. Awesome views though make it worth it. Good hike for those who want a bit of a challenge in that aspect. Not challenging in the distance aspect or how long it is.

Lightly trafficked easy/moderate trail. Good workout .

Nice hike but if you are looking for a challenging one , this is not it ...It can be categorized as moderate but not hard at all

the views were worth the steep route up, and at the top there is a rock formation of a bench to sit and enjoy the view.

Be sure you have the correct trail map for this park! It should show a large loop featuring Green—>Blue/Teal—>Blue (a long Yellow and Red/White trail should be on the map, too). There is another map showing as “current” online and it does not have the correct markings.

Anyhoo, I did that Green/Teal/Blue loop mentioned above along with a quick diversion down the White Trail to see the waterfall. Came in a little over 6 miles (I parked at the Weis Center, so some of that was also the walk to the car).

I’d consider this trail fairly untrafficked—I usually only pass one or two people at the most, but I’ve also never gone on weekends.

Doing the loop as I do, starting at the Weis Center and going down the green path first, you come to a steep, pretty killer incline about halfway through. There are also a few spots with some scrambling required over rocks—I even had to lift my dog up one part! Otherwise I’d more list this trail as moderate rather than difficult.

Best hike we’ve done in awhile. Don’t just do the map loop above. If you do you’ll miss the views. Make sure to get on the Highpoint Trail so you can see NYC and some other 360 degree amazing views. Didn’t see any other hikers yesterday. Also no one was collecting $10.

Nice views at the top and you can see Manhattan. A couple spots were not marked great but all in all it was easy to follow. We saw a black snake, probably 5 feet long. Scared the

Hiked the pink loop off the red on white blazed trail off Snake Den Rd west. 2 good view points toward the east with views of NYC.

Good for a NJ trail, with a good view at the top. Only one tricky part, rest is very easy. Scenery constantly changes, which is nice. Rating should change to moderate.

Also went in April and didn't have to pay an entry fee. Not sure if that's always the case

great views

Can be a tough hike but so worth it. The mountain has a pretty steep ascent, but great peace at the top. I started near the falls where they enter the pool and made my way to Buck. There are multiple ways in I believe, be careful because I had to help one couple find their car, a half hour away. Get out and enjoy this one!

This was a pretty tough hike. There are many different trails to take, and each of the markings fit perfectly with the map. A lot of rock climbing on the way up, and the view at the top is beutiful.

Good alterations in difficulty throughout the trail

Did the entire loop. Was a little longer than I expected. Beautiful views from summit. Even Manhattan skyline can be seen way in the back.

It was good though the summit was below what u expected to be.

Tough, rocky hike with lot of climbs on rocky trail. Beautifully shaded and very nice view points. Actually measured around 8 miles on the blue trail.

It was challenging to say the least. But the view along the way to the top is so amazing. Worth every rock you have to climb. Go find your adventure!

The high point view is nice!!

Varied terrain keeps it interesting. A couple of steep climbs, some scrambling, grassy areas, rocky areas--always something different. And amazing views of the NYC skyline.

It was not a "hard" trail at all. A very short section was steep and that is about all. Otherwise it was nothing cool. The trail gave off a very eerie feeling that I didn't like. It was boring. However, the two viewpoints they have do contain amazing views. You can clearly and easily see NYC. These trails could be made better. Overall it was okay, wouldn't come back though.

Lots of different trails of many different lengths (we did a 3.5 mile loop and only covered a fraction of the terrain). Dog friendly. And the entrance has a stream-fed natural swimming pool and barbecue area that look like they'd be nice in summer (but closed in the off season).

7 mile trail started at Snake Den Rs West. Followed green trail to blue to Wyanokie High Point. Continued on blue to green back to parking lot. Good trail, challenging climbs and descents thru-out the entire trail. Several viewpoints even of NYC skyline.

The directions on this post take you to highlands natural pool. Get a trail map for norvin green state park south to help guide further.

Overall very nice, trails are well marked

Great fun trail. Can be a little difficult to find the trailhead. Great views and lots of elevation changes.

This is a great trail with varied terrain, water crossing, spectacular views, and offers the chance for some solitude. Somewhat arduous, the trail is rough and quite rocky at some points. Saw a few big Rat Snakes and some other good wildlife.

Great hike. The views are worth the steep slopes and rocky areas.

Best trails in New Jersey are there in the Norvin green state forest. I did the otter hole trail and carris hill trail with my buddy and the views are spectacular. I could come here a thousand times and it will never get old.

The Buck Mountain trail was decent in the aspect that it offered a variety of terrain. Just as you descend down you're ascending 900ft back up. The trails terrain was far from consistent which kept the trail exciting. We did a 7.6 mile loop. Great water falls and plenty of streams.
