Allamuchy Mountain State Park Trail-Deer Park is a 8 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Hackettstown, New Jersey that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Nice woodsy trail that was fairly dry. Nice ups and downs - you get a workout without anything being too difficult. I took white to lake trail to return for 6 miles. Saw 3 beaver dams but no beavers or other wildlife.
Great 9 mile snowshoe hike, 3.5 hours started at 1:30pm. From Waterloo parking area, out past Jefferson Lake, to Teal Trail uphill with moderate ups and downs. Stayed wide on Red to White to Yellow (Pebble Trail) to make the Waterloo scenic overlook - fantastic finish! and easy back to car. Trails very well marked and the All Trails app is a godsend to pick your path!! I think the app shorts the mileage my Garmin watch had 9.3 miles.
Great hike well marked. The only thing is on the Allamuchy pond trail, the jug handles off the main trail are not well maintained. But we still had a good time.
First I was confused with the entrance but after taking a wrong path, make a u turn and circle the parking lot; I found a path which I took and led me to yellow trail. I took the blue trail to the lake; contouring the lake, I took the red trail which intersect with white trail (took me to the parking lot). It was raining and muddy but the falling leaves helped a lot!
Entrance driving into the park is riddled by HUGE potholes. Be careful. Hunting is apparently permitted also. Beautiful trail. Very rocky
trail markers are a little hard to find but paths were clear! the drive to the parking lot was rough. go slow, there is a lot of pot holes.
Trail felt great and the pond views were beautiful. A few thorny bushes here and there and a few rough patches with large rocks and logs but overall it was a good ride.
overall the trail was in very good condition there was some spots that had mud, but not very much I didn't see many people out on the trail but the parking lot was full also on the drive to the park it does say private property but it goes to the park and other properties. so despite what the sign says you can go to the park. the trail it self has a lot of wild flowers, it makes the trail more enjoyable. the hills are all mild no serious inclines. also there's no real view of the mountains..bummer.. Solid 4
Lots of trails. The lake is gorgeous! It wasn’t marked so well, but with a refresh on markings, this would be amazing.
Great trail, certain sections were overgrown and harder to pass. In some areas the trail was not marked clearly, so the app helped our group to stay on course. Actual loop is around 9.5miles. Overall a nice teal with only a little bit of elevation at some sections. The water lilies are in full bloom on the lake right now and they are beautiful.
Had a really nice Saturday hike here. There were a few bikers and other hikers, but it really wasn't particularly busy despite how nice the weather was. Trails weren't necessarily well blazed but were mostly easy to follow. A little backtracking through a hole in a fence near the where the Deer Path Trail turns eastward brings you to an outlook of the Delaware Water Gap off Route 80. Deer Path Pond was a particularly pretty spot and is a great place to stop and enjoy the scenery. Ignore the "Private Road" signs on the way in to the parking lot.
Lots of varied terrain and a nice view of the lake. Very peaceful and not heavily trafficked.
