Conditions are very good on the section I hiked this week — dry, beautifully paved, moderate foot traffic, not too many bikes. Also enjoyed a well marked dirt path trail leading off into the woods along back side of small pond, which our dogs loved and we were the only people back in there rnjoying close looks at a beaver dam, ancient rock walls, peeks at the pond. HOWEVER, the normal parking lot (which I pulled up searching “Windham Rail Trail parking” on Gooo-gle is partially closed due to construction. There were NO spaces left; all were full, no signs directing to any overflow. Be aware some businesses adjacent to the trail have posted “No Parking for trailhead” in their lots, so it was hitormiss to figure out where we could park.

Beautiful weather, well kept paved trail. Perfect for pushing a stroller. Saw TONS of turtles sun bathing in the water, a couple cranes and even a muskrat swimming to shore. A little busy but everyone kept their distance, no issues at all.

I think this is a trail better for riding a bike on. I'm excited to come back with mine. the problem is finding out where the trail is. we found some parking spots on South Street (right after you turn onto it from railroad Street).

most users are trail savvy. Some are mindless. give them a wide berth, call out passing or use a bell. use headlight or oncoming travelers may be too distracted to notice they are about to hit you head on. scenery us awesome. inclines are not too bad. if you stick to the rules of the road (US road rules....literally) should be smooth sailing.

I agree with prior review that this trail should be listed as easy, not moderate. It is fully paved and mostly flat. That said, it is a great place for a jog or family biking, or dog walking.

Well-maintained paved trail with some nice beautiful wetland areas. Not too busy. I use it for roller cross-country skiing during the warm months and it’s perfect!

This is a fun place to run. Me and the wife love to run that from the caboose as a starting point. Very busy on sunny weekends with bikes, so be careful.

Moderate? It's a nicely paved, flat rail trail. I prefer this trail over the connected Derry Rail Trail, as Derry is narrower and punctuated by 3-4 roads, two of which are frequently traveled. Windham has a much nicer surface, and better water features for viewing. We usually cut it a little short by starting from the "depot" parking lot which usually has spaces. Good for snowshoeing too until the snowmobilers get to it.
