Webster Jackson and Elephant Head Spur is a 0.6 mile out and back trail located near Bretton Woods, New Hampshire that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
I couldn't find any recommendations on which direction to traverse. Webster is steeper and Jackson has a few scrambles going up so I would suggest going up Jackson first but can be it done in either direction. Highly recommend bringing spikes. Last half mile up Jackson and first mile down Webster they were almost necessary.
A nice quick little trek for some views of Crawford Notch. Nothing terribly stunning about it overall, but worth a detour or as a short walk for even non-hikers.
Great little short and easy climb with a beautiful view of Crawford Notch, Mount Washington Hotel, and the train station. Heard and saw the train come in which was fun. We had never noticed or heard of the Elephant ahead before even though we have been through here a number of times. We were surprised at how few people were on the trail or at the top considering that there were literally hundreds of cars parked on the road in the area. Almost like it’s a secret! Fun little bonus climb, or easy “hike” for those less keen on hiking.
Beautiful crisp day on the trail. We headed out early and crowds weren't too bad. A moderate 4k footer with rock scrambling to make you earn the views. Views on top were spectacular. We enjoyed feeding Canada Jays at the top! Wanted to do Webster but top was bustling and couldn't find the trail so we went back down Jackson the way we came out. On the way down droves of people were headed to the top, can't imagine how busy it would have been then! Stopped at Elephant Rock on the way back, 4 hours including break at the top.
Super short and easy hike. Views are top notch for such a hike. To the south east you’ll look into Crawford Notch. To the north west you’ll look at the AMC Highland Center. The Crawford Station for the Conway Scenic Railway is right there. We did this hike mid April and it was 60°. The day was perfect.
Short but uphill climb. Stay in the middle of all logs and bridges. Beautiful view of Mt. Washington Hotel and Mt. Washington on a clear day.
