We had planned to drive up the road to the Sawyer Pond Trail, but road was closed at the turn off from the highway.

From the parking lot you can hike on a trail down by the river for about a mile before you hit a clearing and an abandoned road grade up to the main road. We tried to continue along the river from that point, but the trail disappears soon after. We had to scramble up a steep hill to get back to the road again.

The road is suitable for backpacking, biking, even a stroller. It isn’t too steep and is a fairly consistent uphill grade.

We fished the river and creeks without much success. A few 3-5inch brook trout were all we could get to bite.

The trail was VERY BUSY on Saturday and the parking lot was packed when we hiked out.

Awesome rd with some killer views of river down steep hills. The road is closed to vehicles since the washout last year. About halfway down theres a pull off walk dont the hill and a sweet spot to swim

we had a blast hiking this trail. I just wish there were more signs about the trail and where your are... maybe a kiosk at the end would have been great... all in all we plan on hiking it again.
