I hiked 19 Mile Brook Trail to the Wildcat Ridge Trail and went down the ski trails. I hiked the 2.8 miles back to the 19 Mile Brook Trailhead via route 16. There are not a lot of views along the way, and Mt Wash was clouded over. Despite that it was a pretty hike and easy to follow. My Garmin said it was 11.9miles total.

Got misplaced on the 0.7 mile ascent to wildcat A - luckily a couple guys were right behind me - we all got misplaced together. We ended up bushwhacking our way to the summit. Continued on to the ski area (which is now closed due to Coronavirus) where they gave me a ride back to my car.

Took 19 mile brook trail to wildcat ridge. Packed snow. Trail very well broken out on 19 mile brook trail. Tough ascent to Wildcat A. Steep with loose snow caused some backwards slipping. Spikes the whole day. Walked down Polecat ski trail and got a car ride back to the 19 mile lot.

Did first 4.1 miles as out and back for lovely fall hike, with just a dusting of snow at the summit. Wildcat A summit has just under 180 degree views, but looks out at Carter dome and the huts below. Nice easy, graded start with a good climb during the last 0.7 mile.

A beautiful day for a hike. Parking lot on RT 16 was nearly full at 7 am but I only saw a handful of the folks parked there. Trail starts off relatively easy. I followed the 19 Mile Brook trail all the way to Wildcat A. There was one point near the top with a good view of the Carter Notch Huts and Carter Dome. Otherwise not many views. Decided to get some water from the hut (0.3 mi off the 19 mile trail.) and then decided since it was early, to take the AT up to Carter Dome. This proved to be a good workout especially on a hot humid day. Nothing much to see on Carter Dome. Continued down the AT to the Carter Done Trail bypassing Mt. Hight. This trail reconnects to the AT. I then continued down the Carter Dome trail back to 19 Mile Brook trail. If you want an easier way up to Carter Dome, take this trail up. It's longer but not nearly as strenuous. Trail was in good condition and plenty of water down below. Lesson learned today: Do not take a carbonated beverage and open it up at an elevation far in excess of the elevation where the beverage was bottled. You will lose about 50% of it as it explodes when you crack the cap. Should have known but did it anyway.

Starts easy at 19 Mile Brook Trail, nice rushing sounds of river which you follow for about a 1/3 of the way, when you intersect at Hut sign, right turn to go up Wildcat ridge, it becomes very difficult quickly and stays that way all the way to top. Really nice views from top but small viewing area be prepared to take turns with other hikers if it's busy.
