Challenging somewhat on the way up but fairly easy trail overall. Only one place close to the top with views of neighboring hills.

The bugs were the worst I've ever experienced in my life. We DOUSED in bug spray...no use. Eaten ALIVE. The second you got one bug out of your ear there was another in your other ear. Or in your nose. Or on your head. Or crawling up your leg. Or chewing on your arm. The view was limited and so lame compared to other views. NOT WORTH IT. Never going back!

Very buggy, bring bug spray! Great hike through the woods.

a bit of everything: a steep climb up the mountain, then walking along the crest, a wooded walk thru boulders, a side hike around a pond if you like, nice flat bits through the forest. Lovely.

Beautiful spring hike today. Black flies are out. suggest wearing a bug net.

Beautiful trail! Definitely steep and muddy in some spots today but a great spring hike. Mosquitos are definitely out so bring the bug spray.

Great hike. Still drying up so a bit muddy in places. We had 2 toddlers, in and out of the hiking packs, letting them walk the easier paths and carrying them up the steeper trails. Hiked for about 4 hours stopping occasionally to enjoy the views and have a snack. Dogs really enjoyed it too. Would recommend!

Great hike! Amazing Rocks & Boulder climbing Mecca! Not much of a lookout, trees blocking view.

When you reach the first junction or point where you decide to go the the fire lookout or take the bypass you need to go up the steep incline straight ahead. Do not go to the left. Once you get up a ways on that steep incline you will begin to see the white diamond shaped markers on the trees that line the trail. It is very well marked and signed beyond that first intersection. Good hike, great views.

it was a great hike with 2 dogs. plenty of cool streams for them to drink and cool off. lots of different terrain. from steep to easy roads. I got turned around a couple of times but keep checking all trails to get back on track. didn't see a single person until way past halfway point. loved the boulders.

A nice quiet, lightly traveled 4 mile hike. My wife and I elected to start up North Mountain Trail, tackling the climb portion first, then come around via Boulder and bring it home via the North Mt Bypass. The 4 mile hike took us novices 2.5 hours, most during the climb section, with a few stops. It is definitely buggy. Fortunately we paid attention to the warnings and lathered up in bug spray. Not much scenery even at the peak of North Mt. Might be better during foliage season.

This hike was pretty long and buggy. The day we did it was extra humid so that probably had something to do with it, but it was well marked with lots of interesting changes in terrain which made up for some of the extra length

Wonderful hike! Views were amazing! It’s amazing to be so close to the city yet feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Besides the beauty of nature....we saw kids learning how to rock climb, horseback riders, and more advanced kids rock climbing. Saw beautiful ponds and huge boulders with caves. What a great day! Will definitely be back to try out some other trails.

Did the out and back trip back on March 6th. Great conditions that day. Someone has been up there in the past few months, as I found the trail had been re-blazed. No way anyone can get lost now. Anyone been up there in the past week or so? If so, any snow/ice left? Looking to do an out and back again.

Really great trail. Loved the views and boulders. Was slippery coming down the mountain. Lots of ice even though it was 72 degrees out. Easy to follow, well marked.

Took me 2 hrs 15 min to complete loop. After storm there were lots of trees down. First half of loop (going clockwise) is a bit more challenging to find footing. Second half easy walking on old road. Lots of leaves on ground in fall made it a bit slippery. Boulder field at the far end of the loop.
